Virginia A. Beasley, 91, of North Syracuse, died Sunday at Loretto. Born in East Syracuse, she was a graduate of East Syracuse High School and Syracuse University School of Nursing. She was a registered Professional Nurse, retiring as the Head Nurse of the Clinical Research Center at Upstate Hospital. An avid sports fan especially SU Lacrosse, she had season tickets for over twenty years. She was also an avid tennis fan and she attended the US Open in 1997. Her favorite tennis player was Rafael Nadal. She volunteered for many years at WCNY and North Area Meals on Wheels. An amazing seamstress she was a member of the Sewing Guild and entered many items at NYS Fair Competitions.
She is predeceased by her husband William Beasley, her son David Beasley, her siblings, Margaret Ross, Blaine Amidon and Lloyd Amidon.
Surviving are her children, Paul (Kathryn Stewart) of Atlanta, GA, Pamela (Charles) Truax of Lowville, Daniel (Ruth) of Cicero, Andrew (Margaret) of Bedford, NH and Sandra (Mark) Gorthey of Allen TX; 12 grandchildren, Joe, Stacey, Jim, David, Eric, Tom, Shaun, Christopher, Michael, Amanda, Deanna and Julia and 11 great grandchildren, Joe, Jr., Stacey, Cameron, Kairi, Olivia, Hailey, Drew, Matthew, Michael, Hannah and Grace
Funeral services are 10 am Wednesday at the Sears Middleton Jones Funeral Home North Main Street North Syracuse. Calling hours will be from 4-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Dewitt.
